See #1203

Now, I've tried two ISP's today, and great performance on both, so Bob, it must have been whatever you did.

Guess the evidence is the lack of complaints on the thread.

One thing, though.... DELL and MSFT lagging badly.... like about a minute... on both ISP's I've tried. Closing down and reopening not helping. And there are more actives that are keeping up.

Len

Bid and Ask Size still disappear for long periods of time.

I am seeing a marked improvement today. FYI, I don't use the news as there are several alternate sources that I have gotten into the habit of using.

I have used the news feature only sparingly, but I have noticed the downloads in the background (I see it sometimes at the half hour point). I would probably use the news if it would inform me when it has downloaded something that matches my key words (of which there should be more). I still believe news alerts should flash the stock symbol on the main page when the arrive.

BTW is the news delayed 15 min? or do we get it as soon as the news wires release it?

Definitely humming right along. I'll echo others re: news. Don't use it, and if deleting that function, increases reliability and speed of quote feed, then that would be my vote - get rid of it. Keep up the good work. Its appreciated!

I never use the news. If no news will improve the quote feed, I vote for no news.

Junk the news ,
it is of no use at all ... in daytrading it has to be either real time or nothing and it seems that RTrader news is very poorly designed and i personally do not have any use for it. There is plenty news for free on the web ..
news is not timely and very confusing in RTrader ....... do away with news !!!!!!!!!

if that can save the bandwidth and improve quotes delivery then by all means
i have to delete 3 or more megs dat/idx news files every couple of days
news dat files are the largest ones , that means that i am getting all that at the expense of getting fast quotes

NAQ

when is the new , improved version of RT coming out and what features /fixes are programmers working on now ???

IF IT IS NOT A REAL TIME NEWS FEED /WHICH I DOUBT VERY MUCH , BECAUSE GOOD NEWS FEED CAN COST THOUSANDS DOLLARS A MONTH PER CUSTOMER // THEN
DO US A HUGE FAVOR ==== >> JUNK THAT CRAPPY NEWS FEATURE
hey data spikes are not around lately .... i must be dreaming :)

Bob-

The news is meaningless, and if that is the reason for the persistent morning lags, please eliminate it immediately. There are several inexpensive sources for realtime news, but very few good choices for real time quotes.

JUNK THE NEWS IMMEDIATELY!

If you have a switch to turn it off on my end, please let me know. I will turn it off pronto.

If the news is not real time it's worse than useless. It could even be dangerous to one's financial health. One can easily find himself buying near the top in the majority of cases. Fifteen-minute-delayed news is intolerable nowadays.

I ALMOST FAINTED, when I found out you were giving us TONS of delayed news that I did not and would not EVER use.

As an option (or possibly an experiment), try setting up a server (maybe LAURA) that does NOT provide news (for those of us who prefer not to have it), and see how many log onto that one. I would bet that the majority would avail themselves of that server, especially if they knew their RT quotes would be faster and more reliable.
