Sorry Ron, I can't send you my certificates, they could make me rich one day! (That was the irrational exuberance portion of my brain talking, the same part that keeps me reading this thread, looking at the car wreck, hoping Congress will do something important...etc.)

As long as the time we spend here isn't taking us away from something more fulfilling, I suppose it doesn't do any harm to hold out hope. There is a certain sanctimoniousness in maintaining the faith in the face of insurmountable odds. Kind of Rambo-esque. Hope springs eternal and all that...

Charles, you're obviously a smart guy, but had you been one of the unfortunate passengers on the Titanic, I can imagine you saying, "I'm sure there are more lifeboats. Have some tea and one will be along shortly." <wink>

Patent search..........
I haven't heard from Bill Carraway on this, yet but, I expect to.
According to the patent search info. there are three different kinds of patents: a design patent; one which covers an invention strictly for its appearance but not its function. It doesn't have to do anything, just look like it does. A utility patent; one which covers the utility or function of the invention. Third is a plant patent; one which covers asexually reproduced plants, hybrids.

According to the memorandum for G.O.E. plant partnership I,L.P., page 19, first paragraph: The General Partner filed a "process patent" with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (the "Patent Office") in November, 1992 regarding the technology for processing waste motor oil into number 2 Diesel Fuel.

At this time I am attempting to determine in which of the three categories the "process patent" will be included.

It will have been five years this November since the filing. Five years without completion seems like a mighty long time (think I heard that in a song somewhere), especially since a search takes only a few days at the most. It is all database search and with new technology constantly updating the system, I think it probably only takes a few hours now.

At any rate, I just started my search and I'm on a 486/66 machine which is one step up from smoke signals and drums.

Please, if you can add to this or make it any shorter I would appreciate it.
