Justa: re: <disagree with you with respect assigning responsibility when and if UTEK turns out to be a poor investment.>

I expect we end up at the same place - acting on Brinker's many excellent recommendations over the years resulting in enhanced net worth. For me, Brinker's recommendations are analogous to an opportunity lead given me. I only act on such leads based on my own independent research. That's why I could not blame Brinker if things went wrong (assuming his original information was documented by my research - if it weren't documented, I wouldn't have acted on the lead). I expect you follow the same process to a greater or lesser degree.

I expect you share my gratitute to Brinker for all the investment skills and investment leads we've received during the years of being exposed to Brinker and his newsletter.

I expect you share my dread that "Brinker will be gone sooner rather than later". I expect you share my viewpoint that it's in everyone's best interest to learn as much as we can from Brinker while his advice is still available to us, rather than badger him about the timing of this or that stock pick to prove him right or wrong - a pure ego trip.

jw, imho, it is not fair to put someone up as being 100% right. review ALL the advice that bob has given and if it is good then he IS good - whether utek works out or not. after all, even if it goes to $0 you are still down less than 4% of your total, right?

in any case, i think dipy makes a good point. is bob a perma-bull who has been lucky on an overall basis? or, will bob turn bearish at some point.

steve, an si original, was a perma-bull on cpq. he said he would let everyone know when things turned bad. a day after he said cpq would make estimates they said that they would make essentially nothing.

needless to say, no warning from steve. ;-) however, he did milk the concept of being an "insider" for several years before he was exposed.

i think brinker is much more talented and i think brinker has a system where steve had hot air. how good the system is at calling bear markets is tbd.
