[Price road map for Pentium II ]

This is my take on the article. I backed in a few prices from the price reduction percentages. I changed Oct 10 to Oct 15. I think pre holiday and Oct 15 are probably the same. I agree with all your prices and only added to your table. No entries for Celeron in the following table.

                type price reduction comment

7. June 233 out of market
266 190$ 19.2% new standard processor

26. July 266 out
300 ? 26% (?) new standard
333 300$
350 390$
400 560$
450 740$ new high end

'pre holiday' 333 ~200 33.6 %
350 ~300 23%

15. Oct. 400 410$ 26.9%
450 550$ 25.6%

They sure do like to make it challenging

Here is another article with the table filled in. The only problem is the text is to small for me to read clearly on my computer screen:(

Dirk,

About 2 months ago you told me how to run multiple monitors using Windows 98. I got Windows 98 (Beta3), and am using three different sized monitors at three different resolutions.

The older 15" NEC is not quite as clear as the others. (Have to use 800 x 600), but the ADI's 19" at 1280 x 1024 and 17" at 1024 x 768 are beautiful. These could be run at higher resolutions but my eyes are getting old.

I use this setup for day trading and it is great. I may get a fourth monitor in the next month or two.

This setup is so flexible and inexpensive (using cheap Cirrus video cards) that I wonder why people use anything else. Maybe they have special demands or don't have the PCI slots available.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you how it's worked out. Perhaps a lot of other people would be better off to go this route. I got the Windows98(Beta3) from a book Windows98 Resource Kit at Borders.

Thanks again for the help. ER
