DELL and CSCO Merger?

What does the forum think of a merger for a total one-stop, end-to-end IT shopping firm called DelCo?

I mean, both are lean, mean, leaders with low overheads, leaders in Electronic Commerce and have great management.

Is the CSCO ADSL modems in DELL computers a sign of things to come?

John Chambers could be CEO for the next 5 years and Michael Dell for the next 10 years that follow. The combined company will have Headquarters in San Jose and Texas.

Sounds too good to be true? Well I think not.

You're not serious...are you? There's not a chance in ... well you know where.

Cable is shared upstream only. WIth S-CDMA you can get 14Mbps upstream...more than you'll ever need.

DSL standards... don't exist....well, not one...many. They have a while (years) to get to convergence. Cable is there with DOCSIS/MCNS.

Copper to over 50% of the homes in the US can't support DSL as it requires clean copper to work well. Infrastructure's not there. Cable plants are in all they need are clients (up to the user), set top boxes with IP, and a VoIP enabled router in the cable plant.

TOday I'd say cable is better postioned than DSL.
