Here's rational experience about a Supplier merging with one of it's major Customers....

In my far past, I worked in Sales mgm't for a Company that merged with one of its major Customers. Then, when the Sales force tried to Call on our old Customers, we were suspiciously Rebuffed by the employees in their product development depts' for several reasons (e.g....
1. They thought we were in cohoots with their rival Competitors'.
a. We would probably devulge to our new Partner...what 'new products' they were secretly developing.
b. We were suddenly having Sales calls that produced Nothing!
Our Sales numbers dropped dramatically.
c. Our old Customers' Purchasing Depts got the same cold feeling and were suspicious of our Sales calls.
2. Because of the above, our Sales Force moral dropped precipitously.
3. Even though our Products appeared Superior to our Competitors (we were #1 in Industry supply), the implications of
being a 'Spy' for our merging 'Partner' were REAL!

Believe me....merging with a Customer DOES NOT WORKOUT from a maintenance and growing of Sales numbers.
Please don't suggest merging CSCO w/DELL again!

Just a positive Thought.....
....analysis shows that if you would have invested $10,000 in CSCO in 1993, your pot-of-gold would be around $90,000, today.
Remember the old saying, "...Don't fix it if it's not broken!" So, Why would you want to suggest FIXing CSCO with a merger with a Customer.....do you think they need that kind of FIX?
