Jane, I've dumped all my loser stocks (some at 50% or greater loss). But I'm still holding a few BCMD shares and VLNT (bankrupt), and will dump them if I need to offset my gains. The lesson I learned is to cut your losses early. It does no good to hold on to a falling stock and hoping it will come back, only to sell later at a much bigger loss. Better to take a small loss early and preserve your capital. That is the number one rule of trading and investing that people frequently forget or choose to ignore.
