Cable vs DSL

If you want real high speed connections DSL with VDSL and much glass fiber is the only option. But currently it does not matter. You get a shared connection anyway once you reach the backbone network. Therefore it does not matter if the last mile is shared too. If the cable gets crowded you have enough cashflow to make the necessary network upgrades.

I think the distribution of the market will almost completely depend on how aggressive the respective service providers will deploy and market the services.
