ian, the bears on this thread are the minority. wall street loves amat with over 75% of the street bullish on the company. wall street moves stock not main street. i mean the best time to own a stock is before walll street finds it or when wall street is bearish or negative then turn positive and start upgrading the stock. amat is the opposite everybody already has a buy so everything good is built in the stock. i remember in 1996 nobody would admit they owned a semi stock. what people should look at the latest releases from wall street basicly very bullish saying this is the last of the downward revisions. so i would not be shocked if some of those 75% bullish firms downgrade amat after the very negative release . what if amat takes a loss in the third quarter? i don't see it but its not impossible from my sources march and april have been just awful. also, we are going into the weakest season for semi's where europe "takes the summer off". also, amat i believe will lay off 5-15%of their workforce as that article hinted. hey, it might not matter but i believe wall street is to excited to early on this one. one good argument for the bulls which i agree is compared to rest of the overvalued amat is not that overvalued. i agree with that argument but because someone jumps off the bridge shouldn't mean you should. everybody could be right but the warning signs have never been stronger and i know with my history the minute i cover my short or go long amat and the market will get killed.
