AT&T still falls short while losing more business..... >>AT&T said the flat-rate service had three pricing options: 600 minutes of monthly air time for $89.99; 1,000 minutes for $119.99; and 1,400 minutes for $149.99. It said additional minutes would cost 25 cents per minute. >> My Nextel plan beats the pants off AT&T's: unlimited dispatch and 1000 digital cellular minutes for $79/mo with voicemail, unlimited paging, e-mail, etc. >>AT&T and other wireless carriers have been facing increasing competition from companies such as Nextel Communications Inc. <NXTL.O>, Sprint PCS <FON.N> and new entrants, analysts said. AT&T Wireless' subscriber growth has slowed. It added about 195,000 wireless subscribers in the first quarter, down 23 percent from the first quarter a year ago, and lower than Nextel's current first-quarter net digital subscriber additions of 371,000. >> Great confirmation of Nextel's momentum and position in the marketplace. This plan will do more for Nokia - which I am very bullish on - than it will for AT&T. I think Nextel is still in very good shape. Once you use DC you never will go back to basic cellular only. One thing that could hold Nextel back over the longer term is the inflexbility that exists because they sell direct to cos, instead of networking consortiums. This limits the ability to DC unless companies get on these clunky, inflexible Business Networks - which nobody knows exist anyway, unless by word of mouth. Part of my new company is founded on the belief that operating digital wireless networking consortiums adds value and builds loyalty for end users. We are at the threshold of a very interesting phase for Nextel. Truly, as more and more people use the phones their imaginations will not limit the potential value connecting can have with not only businesses but between and among people. Nextel should encourage the creation and growth of networking consortiums. If you would like to know more about this, just contact me via e-mail and I will give you the number to call my new company which is in the process of forming a web-based national Nextel individual users resource network that should help individuals expand and fullfill their networking needs and choices on Nextel. Good Luck.
