"Note: On a separate, but related note, you can call me crazy or naive, but I really want to run the Gerry Springers of this world out of town."

Fred, I agree with your thoughts about giving back more than you receive. Since I have no boss and no customers I have the freedom to do exactly what I choose. It's a freeing experience because one can focus on people rather than things. And it's a great feeling to interact with folks with no ulterior motives - I'm not looking for customers or suppliers, nor am I trying to convince anyone to do anything (except to buy NXTL!). Since I'm not chained to the computer, although my wife would disagree, it's exciting and challenging to help others. While I'm not sure how my volunteering could be tied to NXTL's phones, I'd like to hear more. Mind you, I'm not looking for a business venture because then I'm back on the trail of having profit motives to do the things I feel called to do.

Fred: Your elected Fred, however, stock talk is the nature of this thread.

Lately you have been critical of people that voice predictions of market pricing when it comes to Nextel. You seem to get real hostile when the predictions are right. It's understandable, you are frustrated, you know the product is good, you know the company is good, you believe with all your heart and brains, yet, you can't understand the negativity that sometimes abounds here.

Fred, you are a hyped up kind of guy, full of creative energy. When you come up with an idea, and committ mind and money, nobody is going to talk you out of it. That's real good in your business, however, stock dealing is a different business.

Most of us here already have been successful in one real business, now, our second business is dealing in stock. We do it to make money, to put our money to use, to beat the mutual fund managers, to feel the emotion of watching the stock go up and down, but, most of all, WE LIKE TO TALK ABOUT IT. Your stock advice is appreciated, your Smarts are recognized, your philosophy is accepted, your writings are full of life, continue to believe in what you think is holy, but, respect us for doing the same.

Frederick,

As always, thanks for your post. McCaw may have a similar attitude as you. He has stated that his vision is to see the entire world connected; I think it's possible that Nextel is the springboard. I'd bet heavy odds that a much larger picture is in his mind that what we currently see in Nextel. And although capitalism is part of the engine, it's not the entire machine.

Fred: Way to go! Love your philosophy. Maybe a motto you can use is:

NEXTEL....IT'S MORE THAN JUST A PHONE!

Having spent most of my life in volunteerism and helping others, I applaud your efforts and wish you every success.

Bernie

Fred, looks like telecoms will be back in vogue today. Goldman issues a reiteration of buy on Nextel.
