Given the fact that we're talking about threats, let's speak about Sony's Memory Stick which is due out this summer,... many clouds in sight.

BUT remember it takes from 6 months to a year to become a bit successful in this area.

By the way, I have posted 8 questions to SanDisk PR in relation with the upcoming releases and will post them (the questions) together with their responses as soon as I get them.

CMOS imagers have two main advantages over CCD. They can be made at any high level fab. Currently it is my understanding virtually all imaging CCDs are Japanese in origin and are made in specialty facilities. CMOS also use substantially less power, a major design consideration. However image quality not only in effective pixel count but color fidelity is substandard when compared to CCDs.

Can't imagine the CCD folks such as Sony, Panasonic etc
are sitting on their hands.

Better quality less expensive imagers will drive the market for more memory.
