QuadK: My opinion about Dr. Eric
Schmidt's comments
NetBorg

[I've been away from these forums for a while, business gets priority for me, sorry guys, but I do try to keep up. Please
include "NetBorg" in your subjects when you have questions for me, like QuadK did.]

Eric Schmidt is correct. In fact, I wouldn't be suprised if NT 5 doesn't ship until Dec. 1999 given MSFT's track record
(remember Windows 95 being released late and the industry-wide jokes that it should have been called "Windows 96?")!

Customers are seeing the light now that they've tried NT 4, and are seriously considering ANYTHING else that doesn't
crash - they want to focus on success, not internal support issues. Funny, Novell NetWare is one of the first things they ask
about. So far my company has upgraded over 100 different NT 4 sites to 100% NetWare servers in the last month. The
customers are pleased because everything is working again - I suspect they won't be so quick to "follow the herd to NT" this
time.

Because of all of this, Eric Schmidt's goals will be easier to reach than he thinks, but don't tell him - we want him to keep
working as hard as possible.

I'm proud of the Doctor, he's the father of Java, and now he's turning Novell around. As a major reseller, I'm very pleased
with the direction Novell is going now. My customers are also very happy because Novell solutions help increase
productivity, lower end-user frustration, improve profitability (thus giving them a new edge over their competition).
