I am happy to see that you are expressing views about nuclear power and the appropriate role of government which seem to make you a centrist like me--believing in a mixed system with lots of checks and balances. Now I remember that you are not an anarchist libertarian, so come to think of it I am not quite so surprised. I believe Terrence is the only anarchist libertarian we have over here, in fact. Speaking of disgusting business practices and the need for regulation, I was shocked to find out that while American corporations are not allowed to specify whether they are looking for men or women for positions here, many of them do so abroad. Of course, I am already boycotting Nike, so I was not surprised to find them on the list of discriminators. Happily, Levi Strauss and Lucent do not discriminate. But Mercedes Benz does!! If we are going to go through all the changes inherent in a global economy, it would be nice to think that some of the more equitable things about America might at least spread around the world, making it a more just place in general, instead of just being reduced to the lowest common denominator: sfgate.com
