Glenn,

Thanks for the post:

Note

AOL: BANCAM/ROB STEP increased estimate for quarter ending
06/98 from $0.17 to $0.19 on 05/07/98

This is the same analyst (K Benjamin) who pounded the table
after the last conference call and pronounced he that this news
warranted an increase in earnings estimates. So he increases one
by 2 cents but the next he decreases by a penny. He had the audacity
to add that in a quarter where AOL has seen an 80 % increase in price
that he saw much appreciation left in the stock price.

I find this especially insidious since he had admitted that AOL
has resorted to accounting games in claiming to meet or exceed
earnings estimates in the past (he failed to do it at the time of
the alleged subterfuge)all but conceding that the existing price
has been supported by deception.
