RE: Cult

I agree. And it is amazing the amount of cult following one can witness in Usenet about the not-yet-released Castlewood Orb and Sony HiFi. There are people all over Usenet saying they are holding out before buying storage until these drives come to market. Because of the nightmares associated with Iomega's "Customer Support" and Zip's Click of Death, many people await better solutions than what is on the market right now.

The Iomega cult may continue after Sony HiFi comes out. But it will remain just that. A cult. The Standard is to be Sony HiFi 200MB w/backward compatible floppy support. Just the thing a new iMac owner needs to share files of every size. It is a waste to turn in an 85k Wordperfect file on a $13 Zip disc. And, numerous College Textbooks come with floppy discs inside. The floppy is still needed, and Sony HiFi delivers it. The iMac just shot Iomega's Zip in the face.

After experimenting with my new Palm Pilot 3, I see how convenient it is using the HotSync feature. Update info from the Pilot to the computer in seconds. After reading about the exciting features of USB, I feel, particularly Sub-Notebook class computers do not require a "floppy" anymore. Flash Ram Cards do not excite me, but their may be a USB revolution within the next 2 years. There is allot of potential here.

I have changed my stance on Clik. I am not very excited about the potential of Clik anymore. However, Iomega may surprise me, but I would bet they have other products in the works. I hope they do.

Any ways just wanted to add that, Iomega is still one of my favourite companies, although I have no stock in the company, I like their past ability to bring very unique products to market. As for desktop computers, I would not buy one without a ZIP Built in.

Apple is another company that I have always liked, and it looks like they still have a few cards up their sleeve, I would bet they have more than a few.

Just my opinion.
