As far as I know it's easier to knock out (press) 1,000 CD-ROMS, than to duplicate a like amount of floppies. The reproduction method for floppies is linear - while the information on CD's is laid down all at once.

Costs, I understand, are about 60› apiece for both mediums. This means your cost's for floppies at least double once your software exceeds 1.4 megs. This is an extremely likely situation given today's bloatware, and especially relevant if you're producing hybrid (2 or more platform) packaging.
