Dear Kenneth: I'm happy you mentioned Wade Cook. I have listened to several tapes of his and the ones I heard were about option strategies and covered calls. I have been an investor for 30 years and have tried all of these strategies, with the exception of commodities. But the intent of them all is to leverage your investment and leverage can only be done with debt. For example if you buy a call option you own an option to buy a stock at a specific price. You have purchased the right to buy a stock at a specific price. Well, if you don't have the money to buy the stock you will still have to borrow the money when the option expires if you wish to own the stock. If you sell an option it is even worse because you are indebted to the option owner to deliver the stock at a specific price. I've thought also about shorting stock. It looks great on paper. You sell something you do not own; get to use the proceeds right and benefit from those proceeds , you think ! ( but actually the brokerage firm is using the proceeds as an interest free loan, you have to pay the dividends on stock you have sold but don't own in the meantime ) and what you have borrowed from someone and sold is one day going to come calling on you to replace those borrowed securities. From a spritual viewpoint if you buy a stock and the price declines you can wait until the polar ice cap melts to sell it and take a loss, but in options or warrants time is on the devil's side. There isn't an investor out there who is also a Christian who hasn't had the experience of thinking the price of the stock they just bought went down, "just because they bought it". Well you would have a lot of trouble convincing me that things like that don't happen. What does the evil one have to lose by putting a few more of his own kind under further bondage; he already owns their soul; if he can sink a few more Christians in the process. It is the essence of the worldly system, the financial system, and the father of murder and lies controls it all. I had a case two weeks ago. I lost my peace over an investment I made. I got up one morning at 4:30am. Praying for guidance I thought. Three thousand dollars is not worth my peace of mind and a good nights sleep. So I put in market orders the next morning and went out to play a round of golf. Yes I took a 3K loss. My God is a lot bigger than that. I was thinking. Don't think you are going to win every battle. There will be another day, and another battle. But the important thing was I had my peace back. Peace of mind is worth whatever price you must pay for it. And if you think about it the price has already been paid by Christ. All we have to do is subordinate ourselves to the authority and dominion of Christ in our lives. With me, God will start reminding me of my 'true riches'. Family , friends, health, children, ministry, grandkids, Godly son in law ect. and the 'blip' of an account balance on the computer screen seems inconsequential. In Christ..gregor
