I concur with this statement and I DO OWN THIS STOCK AT 29. The stock crashed on OCT 24TH LAST YEAR AND HAS NOT RECOVERED. I just want to say I own DELL also which crashed on OCT 27TH, but has come back in spades plus. I have done very very well with Dell and hold it long term. To give you an example of a Great stock and company Dell was 77.50 on 12/24/97 went up to 132 by March 5 split March 6th and is climbing again closed Friday at 91 3/4. I for the life of me don't understand why BOB does not talk highly of stock like this. This is a real blue chipper you can make real money with. I have done it and continue to do it.
JUST MY OPINION

While I prefer not to get drawn in to the rehashed pseudo-controversies going on here lately I will point out that the reason he often devotes a major part of a page on a stock is because once he recommends a stock in the newsletter he feels obligated to provide continuing guidance which is one of the reasons he recommends very few stocks. As we know individual stocks are not the focus of his newsletter. While I wasn't sure about the appropriateness of his response to Jerry (be it male, female or hermaphrodite), I am thinking his response about people expecting instant gratification in the market is looking more and more correct. If you buy a stock with great potential new products you sit and wait to see if things work out when product development and market conditions allow it to, which have not been the case as yet. If UTEK is the best reason someone can come up with for knocking Bob down, Bob must be awfully good. Oh I forgot he stupidly got us out of Asia only because he didn't like it anymore, not because he foresaw the Asian meltdown so he must be crummy or a braggart because of that. This response is not aimed at any single person so if someone responds please do not take offense if I don't get into an extended debate, I don't have a lot of time at the moment

gb, how many pages has brinker put out and how many about utek. i'll et it is less than 4%. much less. sure, the brink's original euphoria over the pick hasn't worked out. he was wrong if he thought it would.

as i said, though, everyone makes bad calls. i wish my worst call was as bad as utek has been. seriously. if this is the worst you guys can lay on him then he is sharp.

i'm neutral in this. the bull market has made him look fantastic. however, that doesn't necessarily mean a bear won't make him look like a dope. maybe he'll call the top within 5%. i'll really be impressed then.

so far so good, though.

>Why does Brinker need to devote an entire page to UTEK..trying to tell his subscribers how great it "CAN" and "WILL" be.<

I believe I read or heard that Bob, or his BJ Investment Group, is the investment advisor for Ultratech Stepper's employee pension or profit sharing plan. It's my hunch (and just that) that this is one reason he feels he knows the company very well and is comfortable in discussing it in depth in the newsletter.

Greg asks: Why does Brinker need to devote an entire page to UTEK..trying to tell his subscribers how great it "CAN" and "WILL" be. LOOK its been about two years since he recommended it on NBR and time has proven he is wrong.

Hey Greg,

I bought Intel in '93 "knowing" it was a great company and was going places. Check out this link quote.yahoo.com It was Flat for two years. Don't you wish you put more money into Intel back in early '93? Good picks really take time. I'm in R&D and stuff I designed over 10 yrs ago is only now becoming popular (FiberOptic tranceivers running at 200 and 162.5MB/s now common in the internet). The managers, with long term vision, that kept investing in this technology even while it was losing money were very well rewarded. Utek is really looking like this type of company, to me. Your mileage may vary.
