Not to argue, but if you short a stock at 1.00 and it goes to .50 then
you've invested .50 and made an additional .50, for a 100% gain.

Of course, the maximum loss in a short situation is, theoretically, infinite,
but would still be limited to 100%. It's just that the baseline isn't
determined until the "buy" occurs.
