Has this been posted? Interesting point of view: Reply The difference between Double Click and Softbank Scott_Molinari May 7 1998 8:51PM EDT I am a high ranking officer of a company that has a web site which provides an e-commerce solution, as well as Internet solutions that has advertised through double-click and softbank. Double-Click was affortable and has altavista-digital as there main account. They offer over 700 million impressions through altavista-digital. We picked DC because they offered foreign country markets as well as a varied amount of impressions a day per country. We bought 2 million impressions a day divided over 50 countries. The problems that we had were the following: 1. They have a small office in the San Francisco area. 2. We could only deal with one sales person, and one tech support, for changing our ad banners. 3. This is all they had. The sales person took an average of five days to return our calls. 4. If we wanted to change our order, it took seven (7) days for it to happen. What they would do, is stop our advertising for six days completely, and then on the seventh day, start up again. 5. Some days, they liked to bombard us with the majority of the impressions for the week in the last two days of the week. 6. We also advertised through double-click on the website called Looksmart. 7. We booked a million impressions a day. Over the course of three months, only 3 days of actual correct advertising took affect. They handed us a bill for 80,000. 8. We disputed it and they dropped the bill by 90%. 9. How many other customers have they not performed for and lowered there bills. In stock reporting, just because they have a signed contract, they will report this as revenue. But they don't seem to report all of the revenue that they lost because of BAD service. 10. We advertised with double-click from november to february. We do not intend to ever advertise with them in the future. Softbank is another story. They put our impressions on netscape as well as a few other sites. We still continue to stay with softbank. They make the requested changes in less than 24 hours. They offer the same prices as double-click and the service is available as well as dependable. I still don't see how double-click manages to stay in business. I don't think that they even have their european offices anymore. The scam is that all the investors think that double-click is the only advertising company out there. Sorry that this message is so long, but I am still upset at the way we were treated by Double-click.
