Jim, I don't think we disagree too much. I believe and hope that Pfizer will make $$$$$, and that viagra will eliminate terrible heartbreak for millions of people. I know that drug firms do market research and trials for safety and effectiveness of new products. But do they carry out research on sociological impact? Perhaps they do, I don't know. I have seen numerous speculations on viagra, eg ...it will cause baby boom (which incidentally birth control pills did not stop in many developing countries).....it will reduce/increase divorce rate in flagging middle aged marriages ..... How do you weigh such things up in judging impact in developed/developing countries. One thing seems certain to me, viagra will result in an increase in the rate at which people have sex on the planet earth. From this could flow more babies and more disease, or perhaps not? DaiS
