John, I don't keep up with all the analysts, but I do keep up with many. If I don't have a great relationship with the firm, I get info from the news and from other analysts/brokers. But having made a lot of people in the business rich when I managed mutual funds, I still have good contacts at a number of full service firms. True, that connection is getting long in the tooth and I have had some "what have you done for me, lately?" hints, but I still get pretty good info flow on the issues where I express interest.

I haven't seen a service that gives up to date analyst publications. Many give the change of recommendations, but the reasoning, the only part I care about, is usually missing.

On biotechs, I don't use a newsletter. I took a trial to McCamant's, and it was o.k. But it didn't go into enough detail for my needs. He follows a lot of cos., so he sort of gives them all a quick sentence or two. I basically go to BusinessWire and scan for Biotech or Medical. When I see an interesting story, I call the co. for their financials. Then I track everything they say with the Prodigy and the SI quote/news services. Nearly every biotech stock I have bought has either come from those sources or from notes on SI or the Prodigy BBs.
