I'm a admirerer of Warren Buffett and have tried to emulate his principles in my own investing, especially the one about making sure that the management of the companies I buy is honest. IMHO this applies to Ericsson.
I guess his reason for not splitting is to keep the book-keeping simple, but one obvious consequence is that (until recently when he reluctantly issued B-shares) only wealthy investors could buy his company. Even B-shares are over $2000 (1/30 of the A-shares).

very true, but most investors aren't warren buffett.
I can here them now - "hey ericsson at $30 a share. sounds cheap considering it was at $60 before." go ahead people. jump right in after that split. won't hurt my feelings. :-)
