"What is good about this is that they say they plan to keep most of this public and that they don't want to compete with the existing EST companies or to become a Pharma. They still want to sell lots of machines and reagents to these companies. Plus, much of the coding regions of the DNA are already being patented, so really the stuff that is left is the "junk" " Rman, I read the part of the press your referring to as Trojan horse talk. Having said that, I must confess I'm paranoid when it comes to dancing with elephants. If PKN leaves them alone, it might actually work. Of course, an 80% owner is not likely to do that, especially the first time something goes wrong in their opinion.
