Thread, It's good that CPQ, IBM, HWP have started to rise, the valuation factor becomes less of one. You know what they say "all ships rise with the the tide." SO , does this mean the semiconductor biz. is good investment soon? Not yet....

Brief: We noted a couple weeks ago that the PC sector was beginning to exhibit impressive relative strength... Nothing has changed... Fuelled by a solid comeback in the shares of Compaq (numerous upgrades in recent days), the steady rise in Dell and a breakout in IBM, the group should continue to lead the market in the week ahead... Look for the positive tone in the PC industry to spill over to the CEM market, with shares of Solectron (SLR), Jabil (JBL) and SCI Systems (SCI) gaining momentum.

As noted above, IBM, recently broke out of a long-term trading range... Breakout was accompanied by a modest increase in volume... Add to these bullish developments, the market's confidence in management, the stock's discounted valuations and waning inventory concerns and the outlook for the stock (short-term) has brightened considerably... Briefing expects industry giant to test the 135-140 area over next 3- to 6-months

Options. I don't believe any drop would be of the catastrophic variety so covered calls should work, or a bear hedge (I think thats the name) of writing calls and buying puts.
