I am very familiar with this broker and am now moving to another. Was originally enamored with the low commissions, but have since found that one gets what one pays for. 8-(( It only took me 5 months to get this through my thick skull. While losing thousands of dollars in very poor executions, I kept telling myself how smart I was for saving all those commission $$. At least I got out with some of my shirt left though a little tattered.

I've noticed the same thing with a supposedly reputable firm like e-schwab. The order is reported as open over a period of 5-10 minutes, until I hit the cancel button. Then I get a warning message about a problem having occurred with the order, go back to the order status screen and see that the order was miraculously filled in the interim. It happens often enough for me to see the cancel button as the most effective way to view the status of an order.

I don't think Schwab would play games of the sort you describe, and I suspect it's a question of non-responsive systems. But it is disturbing.

Hope this is not Off Topic.

Seems to me that volume has dried up in all my positions and stocks I track, which are mainly small and mid caps.

Any idea what it indicates?
