Correct you are. There will be encapsulated information about import/export companies, members will find quite useful I am sure. They will have to foot the bill like anyone else for a full blown credit report which is reasonable for sure.

Dix,
Thanks for getting that news release and reminding us that nowhere did they mention that credit reports and such are included in the service. As I was reading the previous posts, it all made perfect sense... get the initial info then if you require more, you will have to pay for it. But think of it this way, you get to pick and choose which companies you want further information on and don't have to waste your money on the ones that get you nowhere. Excellent money saving venture... Sure hope PNL will get a cut of each lead tunred to sale. Excellent source of revenue IMHO!

Dixie7777 is right, the press release states clearly the basic info that PNLK members will be receiving:

>>The licensed importer/exporter database is a subset of the D&B WorldBase Marketing File, which contains marketing information on small, medium and large companies conducting both local and cross-border business.

All records meet D&B's standards for direct mail and marketing applications.

In general, to meet D&B's standards a record must contain a complete business name, a valid Standard Industry Classification (SIC) Code, and a physical or mailing address.

Additional business facts that may be included are telephone and fax numbers, CEO name and title, trade style(s), import/export indicator, sales volume, number of employees, year started, and corporate linkage information.<<

Thus, just basic information will be available. (i.e. proof that the company is real.)

Dixie,

One way or another, PNLK is getting a consideration for the business they can throw D&B. It's a win-win situation. PNLK fits snugly into the mold set out by futurists several years ago, such as John Naisbitt in "Global Paradox":

"As the global economy gets larger, the component parts get smaller." "Smaller biz units more efficiently globalize our economies." "Increasingly people will represent themselves." PNLK seems to be all about empowering small businesses and individuals. It really does provide entrepreneurs with a major tool to "Think Locally, Act Globally".

It will be most interesting to see what PNLK 'can do' with all of it's services. The complete value of PNLK will only become apparent as it's facilities are used and it's global membership expands. Once members have actually become adept at using all of it's services and established relationships with it's financiers, what ideas may present themselves?

The possibility of forming strategic alliances, something which may have been inconceivable to some small businesses, may now seem beneficial with partners from other continents who were previously invisible. By accessing the PNLK site an American businessman may arrange to buy cotton in Africa, have it shipped to Hungary for production into clothing, and market the goods in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. Something that may have not crossed his mind before surfing the PNLK site.

During the next few weeks British Telecom will begin selling a combination home (land line)/mobile (GSM network) phone. Make and receive calls around the globe on a single phone number. Presently, one can pick up any type of message (voice, fax, Email) or have it forwarded at Big Planet via phone, fax, or the Net. Bearing this in mind, PNLK will present an experienced member with, for example, the ability while finalizing a business deal in Singapore, to quickly see the possibility to expand it throughout Europe, and immediately find/contact possible Euro distributors and assess the costs/arrange financing/start the paperwork; all the while being available to receive any important messages immediately..........from practically anywhere. With the oncoming presence of automatic interpreting telephony, callers will be able to speak to each other in real time, using Internet phone calls, while speaking different languages. It's all down to software. Soon the phone companies themselves will have to offer this service, too. All one needs is one of these new phones and a laptop, and you're happening. PNLK can be an important part of such an equation.

PNLK can potentially revolutionize global commerce by exponentially leveraging the positive assets of small businesses (quick decision-making, speed to market, etc.) through affordable instant access to a global network.

Cheers,
Bond
