NCS Web Site

Tom,

No problem, I simply deleted the "s" and found the site. I was very impressed with the site and National Computer Systems (NCS) extensive capabilities. NCS is a huge company.

Touchstone Applied Science Associates has a long way to go!

Regards,

Tom

Virtual Classroom & Online Publishing

Class, Class... C-L-A-S-S!

Today's lesson will introduce to you a comparison between an online education, training, publishing company named UOL Publishing (UOLP) and Touchstone Applied Science Associates (TASA).

As one can see on the chalkboard link below, UOLP is valued at an unrealistic multiple while TASA continues to be relatively undervalued. Quarterly revenues for UOLP are approximately $3M while net earnings have been in the red for some time. Yet, UOLP continues to trade between the $9.00 - $10.00 range. The value assigned to UOLP is based on the theory that educational training delivered via the internet or company intranet will be a sensational success.

Your assignment is to compare and contrast both of these companies. Determine a theoretical value for UOLP and TASA based on the probability that TASA will also attempt an online training program in addition to de-coupling BookMatch from the reading awards program. The end result will be increased market awareness, advertising revenue and improved sales of TASA's software/workbook reading programs.

This homework is due in one week on May 26, 1998 as there is a holiday on the 25th of May.

Class dismissed....

Regards,

Tom
