Curtis, and All,

I watched this SBC release early today on CNBC and the effect wasn't that of jolting, only numbing. I don't mean that it was overwhelming, or the like, but simply what I said. As in (and I never use this): Dah (punctuation mark missing intentionally)

I recall reading the prophesies of McLuhan, Toffler and the rest of that crowd disclaiming bigness, and offering up visions of diffusion in the marketplace during the third wave revolution, micro markets, fragmentation and distributed slices of entrepreneurialism, etc.

Any bets that T gets back in here now? Bizarre is chic. If the futurists "were" right, then Bigness must be making a last ditch effort to take the reigns. If they're wrong, do I hear any takers for a return to a full-scale re-integration of the old Bell System? We're about half way there already.

Bizarre? Maybe. But it wouldn't be shocking. Only numbing.
