For safety sake, I'd use a separate stock power if you use the mail. This is basically the information on the back of the certificate. If it gets "lost" somehow, you're in better shape as a transfer is only effective with both the certificate and the stock power (or the endorsement on back.) I wouldn't worry too much once you get a receipt from Waterhouse. That's why it's nice to have a local branch. I would bring it in, get a receipt. If they tell you the wrong thing, "their bad."
