Japan's Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. (7201.T) (NSANY - news) was up 1-11/32, or 22 percent, to 7-7/16 in very heavy trade
after the company and Germany's Daimler-Benz AG (DAIG.F) said they were talking about an alliance between their
commercial vehicles units.

Daimler, fresh from announcing a merger with the United States' Chrysler Corp (C - news), also said it was mulling buying
shares in Nissan's truck unit Diesel Motor Co. Ltd. (7210.T).

Nissan was among volume and percentage-gain leaders on the Nasdaq exchange. Daimler's ADRs were up 9/16 to 112-1/16.
