Rocky,

>>...and one unnamed OEM has already been rumored to be confirmed.<<

Gee willickers, golly jeepers, Batman!...HiFD rumored to be confirmed on an unnamed OEM? Sounds very definite!

>>Such is the distinct possibility with using a removable disc drive in outdoor environments. Sand, dust, smoke, humidity, and condensation may enter the disc slot virtually at will and foul the Vapor! drive, and ruin the media. Thus, product returns are a genuine concern with any OEM's.<<

I know what you mean, Rocky. I frequently pour sand into my CD-player virtually at will! Darn thing! I send them back to Sony by the boatload.

Philip

I'm sure this is a valid concern on Planet Lumpy, but in the rest of the galaxy the Mavica Digital Camera which uses a 3.5 floppy has consistently gotten excellent reviews from real world users. It's even made by ....... hmmmm, let me think here a second ....... oh, yeah -- SONY!

jak!

Compaq was going to put the LS 120 (they helped develop it) in their own computers too. Guess what, which do you think Compaq has sold the most of Zip drives or LS 120.

That's right people buy Iomega stuff, Sony wants to sell boxes, they will sell Zip.

Oh BTW, Sony has sold many many many more Zips than they have Sony HiFD. Can you explain that?
