you really need is the uniq program from gnu and then you can do something like this from your daily dos batch file.. I have all the tools bundled into a zip to do all these things. e-Mail me and I will send them to you when I get home from vacation. gonzogo and others hve these files. They may be able to email them to you.

cat scan_05_18_1998.lst scan_05_19_1998.lst | sort | uniq -d > new_entries.lst
