<<any near-term catalysts?>>
No, none that I am aware of right now. This stock should be back to 20+ by next earnings report. However, to the downside, I don't know how low it may go in the face of a nice market correction: this stock tends to overreact.
BTW, here's another piece of news this morning.
Business Objects and StatSoft Announce Strategic Partnership; StatSoft Licenses Business Objects Query Technology for New Data Mining Product -- BusinessQuery for STATISTICA
Business Wire - May 12, 1998 08:10
SAN JOSE, Calif. and TULSA, Okla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 1998--Business Objects (NASDAQ:BOBJY), the world's leading provider of integrated enterprise decision support tools, and StatSoft, Inc., a leader in cutting-edge data analysis software, today announced that StatSoft is licensing the Business Objects patented query technology to deliver a new data mining product, BusinessQuery(R) for STATISTICA. The new STATISTICA add-on software package combines the popular query technology from Business Objects with StatSoft's powerful and comprehensive STATISTICA statistics and graphing software. BusinessQuery for STATISTICA provides companies with both easy access to corporate-wide database information as well as the ability to link corporate data with a wide array of robust analytical techniques.
"We are very happy that StatSoft has selected our leading query technology for this new product," said Bernard Liautaud, president and CEO of Business Objects.
"Their endorsement verifies that our query technique is becoming the optimal way for business users to access corporate data. Whether customers are using Business Objects' reporting, analysis, mining, and web tools, or other products such as Microsoft Excel, mapping software, or leading statistical analysis products from StatSoft, they now benefit from one single paradigm for accessing corporate information."
Many companies have enormous and often multiple databases in different formats, and getting information in order to perform analyses usually requires expertise in structured query language (SQL) and open database connectivity (ODBC).
The need for this expertise is eliminated when using BusinessQuery for STATISTICA, because the patented Business Objects query technology allows the user to query databases using common business language and a graphical user interface.
With BusinessQuery for STATISTICA, users can easily query databases regardless of the underlying format (e.g., Access, Oracle, MS SQLServer, etc.) within a graphical environment, using terms with which they are familiar. They can create simple or complex queries easily and the data will appear in a STATISTICA spreadsheet for further analyses.
"We are excited to team with Business Objects to bring companies this powerful new data mining tool," said Paul Lewicki, StatSoft's president and CEO. "BusinessQuery for STATISTICA will help to streamline the data mining process allowing companies to make better and faster decisions from their data."
BusinessQuery for STATISTICA will be available from StatSoft in June for $495 (USA).
