China has 64M cable households. Nearly as large as the US. That 200M color TV count is deceptive. The Chinese government admitted that more than 1M smuggled TVs entered the market, last year. I think it was a much bigger number. China thinks 10M units of VCD sold in China last year. Hagedorn says 17M to 19M sold. TV households are around 300M, counting black and white TVs(which are being upgraded rapidly). Digital cable needs an MPEG-2 decoder. CVD or DVD/settop box combos?
