Jim,

I think that 'chump change' is accurate in this case, as MSD could buy the 'debt' out of 'his personal' assets. When a company offers for sale a 'debt' instrument that the CEO could buy, 'no sweat', that to me it is not a big deal!

I don't believe that I indicated that someone should borrow money to enter the stock market! If I was misinterpreted, let me clear it up. DON'T BORROW TO INVEST! (JMHO - It sure makes me nervous!) What I meant to say, is that accelerating the mortgage payoff may not be the best use of your available money. You might invest the difference between what you 'must' pay and your 'available' money in the market instead of your house. That may be where the money is to be made. You have to be very selective as to where you put your money, but using the charting feature of SI, pretty good opportunities seem to be found, DELL being one of them.

So actually the situation is really the same, as to whether you want to invest for your future, or pay accelerate your mortgage payoff, which may yield less.

I would want an advisor who could demonstrate why their position was taken based on facts that I could understand. In DELLs case, in looking at past performance, I cannot see what basis an advisor could use to say that DELL was a non-performer or ready to break. JMHO

Regards,

Ken
