When I was speaking with Noam at N+I, I asked him if they were working with Vocaltec thinking their might be an Israeli tie in. He said that they had had discussions but pointed out a start-up VIOP company across the way that Nbase was working with. Unfortunately, I don't recall the name and since the exhibition was closing didn't visit.

Re:General Magic. Was very interested when company was private (1993) and AT&T, among others, had a stake (since sold). The company slipped out of my database; thanks for reminding me to reenter data-GMGC.

Rumor is still on the street that Northern Telecom is looking for a networker.

CSCO will buy NT before NT buys MRVC.

It's funny - I think of BAY-MRVC as ruining one great company without fixing BAY's problems with legacy products. A lot of overlap there too.

Now ASND-MRVC makes sense in a different way. ASND has not much LAN presence, but good high-end WAN products and customers. MRVC with NBase/Xyplex has a strong small end enterprise LAN base - particularly International, which ASND could use, and I see Edgeblaster as being complementary to MAX, because it can win sales that are more price sensitive, without eroding MAX margins.

Both companies are on a fast growth track (BAY is not, IMO) and both companies have kept their cost structures low and both also have low exposure to legacy products. ASND could also benefit from MRVC's fiber/ASIC capabilities.

An ASND-MRVC combo could also be a successful competitor to CSCO, with enough muscle and customer base to succeed. It also turns ASND into a full fledged broad spectrum networker, which it needs to be to compete long term against CSCO, and gives it access to the high-growth GE market. To me this makes much more sense than a BAY-MRVC combo. Let LU buy BAY, their corporate cultures are probably quite compatible.

I'm with you. Covered writes are working great. Sold the May 30's calls at the top of the most recent move up for 1 7/16.I think they will probably expire worthless this Friday.

Getting set to do it again... for June. I added stock to this position on the pullback, so I can build a set of trading positions in this stock and generate monthly income via covered writes.

June may be the month MRVC gets closest to 30, but I don't think it will go over and stay over (excluding non-normal stimulus). If it does, ST gets called, but LT benefits, too.
