Fisherman without a bite

APPLING, Ga. - Verdell James was ready for the big fishing
tournament. But before the 70-year-old retiree could wet a line, he let
loose with a powerful sneeze and watched his $300 false teeth drop into
Thurmond Lake. ''I sneeze hard,'' James said. ''I've probably got a little
allergy - not bad - but when I sneeze, I sneeze.'' After losing the teeth in
15 feet of murky water, James had to wait until two days to get them
back. Two off-duty Columbia County rescue divers needed only six
minutes to find his choppers. ''It took us longer to get the gear on than to
find the teeth,'' diver Scott Sherman said.

Computer Networking - Updated: 12-May-98

Brief: 3Com continued to slide as Cowen & Co lowered its FY98 and
FY99 earnings estimates to $0.65 and $1.48 from $0.74 and $1.50
due to slower than expected ramp of V.90 modems, price cuts on
fast Ethernet switch product and continued price competition for
modems...

Despite earnings adjustments, Cowen rates stock a buy...

Should be noted that COMS is approaching key support in the 30-28
area...

Briefing expects stock to bounce of this floor and return to mid-30s
over short-term, low-40s longer-term...

Cisco Systems succumbed to profit-taking, falling one point despite
news that Cowen reiterated its strong buy rating.
