I mean no offense, but I am not in agreement with it. I personally dont believe that anyone gets closer to god through fear. I believe that God is the embodiment of unconditional love. There is no fear in that.

Hitler did not kill six million souls. He killed over ten millionn people. Their souls lived on. I think that God loved Hitler, in spite of the horrors and atrocities that he committed. I think Hitlers soul's "punishment" if you will, is the knowledge that it will be seperated from a reunion with god (its only purpose for being)for that much longer.

Let me turn the question around.
If God can accomplish anything he desires, why would he choose for you to gain wisdom through fear? Your outcome is already pre-determined to an extent(eventual reunification with God). The only question is the path and the time involved. Given that, why would God choose for you to gain wisdom of god, the knowledge of who and what he is by having you fear him? He could easily have you gain knowledge of him through love and life affirming methods? Why would god want your fear, given that he can choose any method he desires?
