With the Lair press release, I now know why the earlier press releases on the identity and status of management personnel who have been there for some time already (e.g., the President came on board with Lair on March 9).

For a positive take on this (and it is difficult), there are bodies still around with the company with some credentials and who see some future with the company, even though the revolving door moves awfully fast for some of these people. I can understand the pre-acquisition, disgruntled SIM people leaving, and one of Meathcum (sp?) or Lair eventually leaving, but I sure hope Rogers is not out the door too (as the rumor last week had it, but which Conway shot down when I spoke to her).

April 20 press release by ESVS announces Lair's appointment as Chairman of the Boad. May 11 release says he has accomplished his goals. Pretty lame explanation.

Obviously, there would not have been an April 20 press release proudly announcing his promotion to Chairman, if Lair was planning on leaving at that time. That would have been pretty stupid, in my opinion. There also has been (i) no disclosed progress with financials since March 9, and (ii) no disclosed progress with merger since March 9 (just a press release saying it is still on), making one wonder what goals have been accomplished since the April 20 press release to justify Lair's departure..

No matter how you slice it, (i) something unexpected happened after April 20 to cause Lair to announce that he was stepping down and (ii) the press releases since that time have been geared to "soften the blow" of this announcement.

This does not help management's or Hayton's credibility. While Lair's departure could be due to a personal matter, or a personality clash, or NEC putting the squeeze on him, or something else not dealing with a fundamental problem with the company or its operations, this change creates renewed concern that there is something else out there, whether about the financials (delayed) or merger deal (delayed), causing the revolving door management syndrome.

I can only think of 3 reasons for Lair's quick departure:

liability, liability, and liability

I've got to admit, though, that the guy must be super-human, having accomplished most of his goals in only 20 days.

He's got Chainsaw Al Dunlap beat, but God apparently still holds the record...

(Now, does anybody happen to know just what those goals were?)

PartyTime, what say you? I suppose now you will say that Lair wasn't all that important. You've got a lot of 'splainin to do, though, if that's your response...
