<< I don't question the fact that BA has been slow to roll out ADSL or that RBOCs have
many internal obstacles they face (such as loop qualifications) that have not been
overcome speedily. However, Hiram's post seems to indicate that BA is not deploying
ADSL on purpose or they have no real intention to deploy the service.

I know for a fact that is wrong. Lets just say a friend or two works for the company.
BA is working very hard to try and roll out ADSL. Sometimes that is all that needs to
be said:)>>

Agree Hal, sometimes this medium can be a bit difficult when it comes to conveying the true meaning behind a post (I for example can't spell worth a damn -- but hey I not paid to spell - in person I can convey my meaning quite nicely :).

I don't think Tim meant to convey a mistruth (he does a lot of good research and I trust his opinion). I am sure BA is working very had on rolling out xDSL -- they have after all been at it for over 5 yrs now. I think a more relevant question would be what flavor or xDSL is BA currently looking at. For example, if it's CAP that limits the field, if it's RDSL that changes some things, if it's DMT that changes things even more.

Would love to hear all you are at the liberty to offer.

Tom

Hal: Any BA customers interested in ADSL can be put on a waiting list to be notified when ADSL becomes available in your area by using the "Contact Us" link at the following location
<http://www.bell-atl.com/adsl/>

This is part of an email response I received from Bell Atlantic a month or so ago regarding an inquiry I made to them regarding ADSL service in my area. Since it was personal correspondence I removed some of the info. Dave

Mr. Kimber,
ADSL is not available in your area at the present time, but it may be in the not too distant future. We are planning a market roll-out in the XX area beginning this Summer, and parts of XX County being seriously considered as part of the deployment area
.
