My quotes rarely go down. I am on an internet and two satellite feeds. Real-time news IS where it is at. I conducted an extensive test with more than 200+ technical and fundamental indicators over a historical period of 1 year on nearly 2000 stocks. I computed the "correlation coefficients" for each of the 200 indicators in relation to price performance. After this I back tested significant news releases and compared results to these indicators. My conclusion - real-time news has more opportunity but you need to sift out the chaff from the wheat (I've got my word watch list). Of significance was earnings reports/surprises, FDA approvals, buyouts, macro economic news etc, legal issues etc. After that, indicators such as 5-year projected earnings growth and 5 year historical earnings growth ..... and so on were on top. I ranked and weighted all 200+ indicators. I took me weeks of cleaning up an ocean of data on probably one of the largest Excel spreadsheets of its kind to find this. I also learned how each indicator was distributed and clustered statistically. Bottom line - devise, test and learn to trust you own method. Additionally I find it amazing the number of people day trading on rickity quote servers. I would have no patience for an intermittent service. Chuck's StockEdge via satellite has passed my test. The thing I like about my particular setup is, that I can use the same DBS satellite receiver to get digital TV programming - I dropped cable for a lower monthly cost and better digital picture. My favorite features are the CBS real-time news, news alert buttons and the customizable cellphone / pager price volume alarms. No complaints here. I you are making any good trades the cost of a reliable service is worth avoiding the goofing around with others. Speed and reliable intelligence wins in this business. Good trading to all, JP
