Another win and the price go down DSC Delivers CCS7 Signaling Technology to Venezuela DSC INfusion(TM) STPs to Provide New Service Capabilities to CANTV of Venezuela DALLAS, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- DSC Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: DIGI) and CANTV, the national network operator of Venezuela, announced today the signing of a supply agreement for DSC's Infusion(TM) Signal Transfer Point (STP) equipment. CANTV plans to install DSC's STP systems in its network operations in Caracas and Valencia. From these two locations, DSC's INfusion STPs will provide service to the entire country of Venezuela. Product deliveries have already been completed, and installations have begun. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. By using DSC's STP platforms, CANTV will be able to introduce new IN services into its portfolio of service offerings. The STP equipment will also support the long-distance tier of CANTV's network and serve as a gateway to other networks, including mobile operators' and future competitive carriers' networks. "The STP equipment will allow the flexibility and efficiency which the network requires for the use of diverse services, among them IN services," said Mr. Vicente Casa, project coordinator for CANTV. "Deploying our INfusion STP equipment will bring significant economic advantages to CANTV," said Rob Kiely, DSC's vice president, Americas Sales. "DSC's stand-alone STP platforms will enable CANTV to increase its portfolio of revenue-generating services. At the same time, this introduction of CCS7 signaling capability will also lead to reduced operation costs by allowing CANTV to create greater network efficiencies across its nationwide operations." DSC's INfusion Signal Transfer Points are network signaling hubs that provide access to CCS7 signaling networks. The INfusion STP routes signaling messages between network switches and other network nodes, as well as other networks. Deploying an INfusion STP provides: efficient access to centralized network node services; improved and cost-effective CCS7 link utilization, and streamlined network routing control and management.
