Seems like they want to supply the <$1k PC market with fully integrated boards (MM video on board). The consolidation of motherboard and all the common plug-in boards is inevitable if the price keeps falling. Imagine a sealed-box PC with video & modem on board, non-upgradable HD & CD - basically saving the cost of PCI & ISA connectors and the chips to drive the slots. Not quite WebTV, but a cheap (<$500) games/homework PC for teenagers.

Seems like their expertise with gamer video cards & drivers gives them an edge over the cutthroat cheap Taiwanese boards. Maybe they can squeeze a little margin from the business for a while or leverage it into a play to step up a level, supplying the boxes themselves. It is a dangerous game, but they are being forced into it as the PC looks more & more like the slick black boxes in your stereo cabinet. They can either defend the high ground of 3D for CAD & business PC's or move on to the next frontier of high-volume consumer boards.
