I've been somewhat bemused by "Mr. Pink"'s personal attacks on Darby MacFarlane, which run along the lines of... [from an earlier message] <<Darby MacFarlane Attended Paul Revere High School, Yonkers, New York 1965-1968 dropped out and joined commune in Massachusets.[sic] Received GED by mail after second attempt 1972. Received M.S. certificate (Manicurial Science) from Buffalo Institute of Cosmetology in 1974. Began highly acclaimed career in the beauty field doing nails, coloring hair and later advising clients on optimal colors of wardrobe in 1977. Met David Mac Farlane at swingers party in 1978.>> [Incidentally, he frequently misspells her name. I can't tell if this is simply carelessness, or some sly cut that's too subtle for me.] Was this based on some actual information on her background (and thereby implying that she's unqualified to run a corporation selling a scientific product) or was it simply random (and perhaps sexist) jibes? After my question posted here about her background received not much in the way of information, I called CCSI. After several hours I received a call back from Darby who said she was traveling, but wanted to catch up on all her phone calls. I didn't expect that I'd get any information that would change anybody's predetermined attitudes, and I'm sure that's the case. She didn't seem to have any hesitation in talking about her background. I tried to take notes, but she jumped around so quickly from topic to topic, that I can't provide a detailed synopsis, and I'm not going to try. It wouldn't prove anything one way or the other. Anyway, she mentioned a convent school, a junior college, an acting and modeling career, training as an investment advisor, and running a company that provided color consulting. (I'm not sure what that means, and as my wife assures me that I totally uncoordinated as far as color goes, I'm not one to comment on it. She talked some about how they searched for scientific ways to evaluate skin color and eventually got into the medical field. She also stated that an excellent deal is in the works, and she regretted that it was not coming as fast as investors wished, but it was coming for sure. Nothing there that others haven't reported her saying. I can see some vague basis for Pink's "manicurist" jibes, but whatever serious point (if any) he's trying to make escapes me. I've worked for several entrepreneurs, and in my experience they often don't have particularly neat resumes. (After all, one could describe Bill Gates as a college dropout, and what does that tell you?) I now return you to your regularly scheduled bb mayhem.
