To all, does anyone know of a link where I can get closing index averages for a particular date, i.e., 12/23/98 for DJIA, NAZ and S&P

TIA

That's People's Republic of Wisconsin, oh ripper off of Dowd. Quite an ironic appellation, considering the 10+ years of Tommy Thompson's reign, so far. Talk about political cesspools, it takes quite a skilled politician to turn Fighting Bob LaFollete's good government state into a high-tax patronage heaven, but Tommy's managed to do it, while keeping the wife safely tucked away in Elroy. Unfortunately for Bill, Tommy's plan to take over the elected AG's office as another governor's fief ran afoul of the state Supreme Court.

As for Ellsworth Toohey, sadly, my fleeting indirect knowledge of the holy Rand does not allow me to fully appreciate that one, and I fear I'll have to forgo the turgid prose experience that would be necessary to find out. I hear people get off on the racy parts with Gagny and Galt though. Or was that Rourke?

Where's old Francesco or whoever gave me the lecture last time on the sanctity of intellectual property versus unholy antitrust? He/she got into it a lot more, this is a pale shadow. Tell it to the Chinese, I say. Not that the Bills haven't been trying.

As for Bill moving offshore, last time around I thought you admitted the US had the best business climate in the world. Where's Bill going to go? Think he'll make more money forsaking the US market? That one's counterintuitive. The world in flames without Microsoft! Oops, just the US. We'd just have to pirate Bill's excellent software, like the Chinese. Be harder to sue from offshore.

Anyway, no hard feelings to any of you guys. Though I follow this stuff for entertainment, I haven't seen any indication of anything that would limit Bill's ability to make money. Block Windows 98? But it's supposed to suck less! Of course, the business market where all the money is isn't supposed to want it, they're just supposed to wait patiently for NT5, stumbling along with that sucks more system meantime.

Cheers, Dan.
