Merlin, of course, has his own magic to mix.

Now, Jon. Let's be reasonable. You--and there's a couple others like you--find it comforting to say that I make things up on behalf of the company. You should note that in instances where this is in fact the case, I preface my remarks with "maybe...," "possibly...," "what if...", "it could be ...," etc., etc. In the instance of my past letter I used the term "hypothesize."

I'll tell you this much. I do a hell of a lot better with my kind of descriptions than you do when you attempt to invoke fear in people regarding your highly liberal use of the term "investigation."

If you check the record, you'll find that what I proposed--and that's all we can do, since we aren't the primary movers in the company--is most reasonable. But you, of course, as always, prefer the sinister viewpoint. And this is how you've defined your role.

Indeed, your comments--except for some of your more instructional-type remarks regarding trading systems, computer expertise, etc.--are but a tailwind to the spillover publicity that came so badly from Wired.

It would have been nicER if you had responded with: "Not a bad theory of what went on. Here's what I think..." But you didn't, because you're glued to cynicism, and that's all you'll ever think in this matter.
