Dan,

>>it has to make sure that the Department of Justice and anyone in the media or computer industries who will listen know that it must fight not just for its own right to innovate, but for the entire American economy to thrive.

Hey, what happened to those patriotic "I'll take Microsoft to India!" threats?

Cheers,

Norm

Why (and How) Netcenter Will Kick Serious Butt www5.zdnet.com

Meanwhile, a nice word for that other company from old Jesse Berst.

Here are some of the objections people are making. And why those people are wrong:

They're late to the game. Huh? Netcenter made $95 million last year -- which accounts for nearly 18% of Netscape's entire revenue. Yahoo made $67 million. Just who's behind whom?

Yahoo's funny. Sal and Bill Harmond are big on them, but they're pretty agile investors. Yahoo's worth 3x NSCP, and the analyst types see it as another proprietary lock / name brand thing. I don't know, it looks like the yellow pages to me. Not exactly uncloneable. But I'm hopeless, banner ads have no effect since I never download graphics if I can help it.

Jesse has a bunch of other stuff in this article. Good for Netscape, I say.

Cheers, Dan.
