Phil this news item sees it the "Mac OS cash cow" way also

S Jobs has all WWDC week to make a Rhapsody case for "interested" enterprise developers and has not alienated his Mac OS faithful .

Keeping a steady revenue stream seems to be his motive :

" The announcement was aimed at reassuring software developers chafing over Apple's tortured plans for a new operating system and wavering over whether to jump ship and write software exclusively for the much larger Windows/Intel market.

Keeping developers happy is crucial for Apple. If they stop writing for the Macintosh platform, fewer people will be willing to buy Macs. And the fewer who buy, the less incentive developers will have to stay with the Mac. "

Rhapsody development will continue and its my understanding it is currently Win/NT compliant on PowerPCs .

MSFT's many lawsuits will be the final arbiter of Rhapsody's future .

Regards,
Jim K.
